Ida Melissa (Nichols) Tracy was born at Fairport, New York on September 26,1850 and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Gass, in Kearney, Nebraska, on July 22, 1934.

Ida moved to Illinois with her parents and on July 10, 1869, was married to Addison E. Tracy, at Gardner, Illinois where they resided for about two years and then located at Lone Tree, Nebraska, now Central City, where Mr. Tracy took a homestead on which they lived for a number of years, helped blaze the trail of civilization and experienced the hardships of the early day pioneer life. The family moved to Kearney about forty-three ears ago, and Mr. Tracy passed away here ten years ago. Since that time Mrs. Tracy made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Gass.

Ida is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Emma L. Peck, who has made her home in Kearney, taking care of her invalid mother; Mrs. Carrie Schwaiger, of Alhambra, California; Mrs. Thomas Gass, of Kearney; Mrs. E. J. Brown, of Frannie, Wyoming, and Mrs. Clyde Bower, of Douglas, Wyoming. Thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Ida was quite a home loving mother and very much devoted to her family. Burial took place in the Kearney Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Greene officiating on Wednesday, July 25. She was laid to rest beside her husband.
