Information below from 2016 genealogy records of Ruth Hasten Walsh, g-granddaughter of John E. A. Blanton"
1918 - tattered and yellowed newspaper clipping (probably Trenton or Savoy,TX newspaper) found in a Bible originally owned by Margaret Keller Blanton Seals Jones Taylor.

[That Bible is now (2016) in hands of widow of Kenneth W. Blanton in California. She has 15-20, perhaps more, old photos of members of Blanton family. In 2003, 2004, and 2006, she promised to copy and mail; however as of 2016, photos never received. rahw.]

In the mid-1990s, my mom Helen Ruth Winkler Hasten. purchased six tombstones. They were placed on the unmarked graves of
(1) her mom, Ruby Mae Blanton Winkler,
(2) her dad, Ben Winkler,
(3 her older brother, John William Blanton,
(4) her maternal grandfather John E. A. Blanton and
(5) her Aunt Clara Henderson Winkler (widow of her paternal uncle, Roy Winkler). Mom's siblings contributed to the the cost of Ben Winkler's tombstone, but not to the cost of the other tombstones.
(6) her half brother, Harold Lee Winkler

In the family history pages of the Bible of Margaret Elizabeth Keller Blanton, John's name was recorded as "John Evans Anderson" . In his parents' Bible, John's name was recorded as "John E. A. Blanton". In the 1930's or 1940s a family historian, Nadine Juanita Blanton, "assigned" him the name of John Evanston Anderson Blanton on a DAR application form. Nadine's niece, Betty Blanton Crabtree, who inherited her aunt's genealogy papers, said that someone must have given Nadine that name, but there is nothing in Nadine's papers that explains why Nadine used that name. There is no document anywhere that lists his name as John Evanston Anderson. Betty believed her aunt Nadine probably "mis-recalled" John's middle names. Betty said that most of Nadine's records are factual based; however, there are some instances in the 1930s and 1940s where Nadine relied upon her memory to record some information.

John was a "lay preacher" and a farmer. In the winter and early spring months, he preached at camp meetings held in Oklahoma Indian Territory.

John died from TB. While helping take care of her father, John's daughter Ruby contracted the diesease that killed her. Sadly, she passed TB to her first born child, Johnny Blanton. Little Johnny died of the dread disease a few weeks before his mother.
