Roland (1825-1909) and his younger brother Caleb (1831-1921) came to Fowler township,Trumbull County, Ohio probably following their eldest sister Elizabeth (1813- ) who was married to Watson Hawley (1810-1862). The extended Hawley family moved to Fowler, Ohio before 1840. Roland and Caleb married sisters, Lucy and Electa Hall, who grew up on a neighboring farm south of the Hawley family on Ridge Road in Fowler.

ROLAND RISING
WELL KNOWN RESIDENT OF THIS COUNTY, DIED AT THE HOME OF HIS SON.
Roland Rising, aged 84 years, one of the pioneer residents of this county died Tuesday at the home of his son, Wilbur Rising on Ohio Street.
Mr. Rising was a resident of Fowler and had been spending the winter at the home of his son here.(Warren, Trumbull, OH) Sometime ago he fell and received several severe bruises these with infirmities due to old age caused his death.
A short prayer service will be held at Cross' chapel Thursday morning at 9:30 and the body will be taken to Fowler for burial. The services there will be held at one o'clock.
There is a discrepancy between Dec. 28(newspaper) and Dec 31(tombstone) date of death.
