Mrs. Trujillo was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Julesburg, Colo., and had lived in Cheyenne and Laramie for most of her life.
She was a nursing assistant at Memorial Hospital for seven years and at the VA Hospital for nine years before retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Trujillo was the secretary and treasurer for the Latin American Association in Laramie and a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, the League of Women Voters and American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Robert Ortega, Phyllis Simola (Ted) and Alfrieda Gonzales (Tom), all of Cheyenne, James Ortega (Lorraine) of Phoenix, Stella Trujillo of Cheyenne and Helen Gonzales (Bill) of Denver; five sisters, Manuela Ochoa and Ramona Zaring, both of California, Anita Garcia and Rose Romero, both of Cheyenne, and Virginia Bosch of Florida; eight grandchildren, Ted M. Simola (Stacy) of California, Joseph J. Simola (Kelly) and Jacqueline M. Lewis (Darrell), all of Cheyenne, Tracey M. Sutton (Brian) of Denver, Anthony A. Trujillo (Tania) of Cheyenne, and Shane O'Grady (Michelle), Kristen Mayorga (Gabriel), and Jamie Ortega, all of Phoenix; 10 great-grandchildren, Dominic Simola of California, Elena Mae Lewis, Sophia J. Simola, and Olivia G. Simola, all of Cheyenne, Lily Sutton and Thomas W. Sutton, both of Denver, Raigan O'Grady of Phoenix, and Alexis B. Trujillo, Brendan A. Trujillo and Aubrey N. Trujillo, all of Cheyenne; and a sister-in-law, Betty Mercado of Cheyenne.
Mrs. Trujillo was preceded in death by two husbands, Alfred Ortega on Dec. 7, 1962, and Harold Trujillo on Sept. 7, 2004; her parents, Florentino and Antonia (Ruiz) Mercado; a brother, Phillip Mercado; two sisters, Helen Ojeda and Juanita Mercado; and a great-grandson, Dalton Wayne Lewis.
