May 24, 1937, Harley was married Carla Petersen. They spent their married life together in the communities of Denver, Colorado, Republic, Kansas, Hardy, Ruskin and Superior, Nebraska.
Harley was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Nebraska, for 47 years and currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hardy. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #3101 and Elks Lodges #2197 of Superior, and Danish Brotherhood of Ruskin.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Addis Jensen; two sisters, Clara and Carla; and one great-grandson, Brandon Maslo.
Survivors include his wife, Carla of Superior; one son, Merwin Jensen and his wife Sharon of Goodland, Kansas; one daughter, Janice Ostergaard and her husband Denton of Omaha; two brothers, Otto Jensen and his wife Bernice of Eugene, Oregon, and Clair Jensen and his wife Leora of Hastings; two sisters, Marion Nelson and her husband Robert of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Clara Marie Madsen of Eugene, Oregon; one sister-in-law, Esther Jensen of Superior; seven grandchildren, Scott Jensen and his wife Heidi, Elliot Jensen and his wife Sallie, Trevor Jensen and his wife Edith, Erika Schoenbeck and her husband Matt, Mary Maslo and her husband John, Craig Ostergaard and his wife Dena, Carla Ostergaard, and Toby Ingram; nine great-grandchildren, Eric, Sarah, Whitney and Logan Jensen, Kelsie, Tarrin and Brady Maslo and Eric and Christian Ostergaard.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hardy, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Schroeder officiating. Special music by the family was "This Is My Father's World", and congregational singing with Ernestine Hoyer as organist. Interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin, Nebraska.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Scott, Elliot and Trevor Jensen, Matt Schoenbeck, John Maslo, Craig Ostergaard, and Toby Ingram. Honorary pallbearers were Quentin Leece, Bill Erickson, LeVern (sic) Erickson, Bob Gunn, Elmer Paul, Rex Sykes, Ward Aurand, and Joe Stenson. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of arrangements.
