Ms. Ruthie Mae Carter Colley, 82 of Blackshear, passed away late Monday night, April 19, 2010, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
Born in Appling County on October 30, 1927, she had lived there most of her life before moving to Pierce County 19 years ago. She was a retired private sitter and was of the Church of God faith. Ms. Colley had been a resident at Waycross Health & Rehabilitation Center for the past year and was a daughter of the late Silas Tike Aaron & Emmie Jane Rowell Carter. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Dale Colley, Sr. and Bobby Colley; her sister, Mozell Dixon; and four brothers, Make Carter, Cecil Carter, Paul Carter and Kenny Carter.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dewaine & Carol Colley of Blackshear; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy & William Trammell of Jacksonville and Pam & Larry Mullis of Blackshear; a brother and sister-in-law, Hugh Roswell "Spider" & Jean Carter of Blackshear; 20 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 8 great, great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Visitation:
Visitation for Ms. Colley will be held Thursday evening from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
Service:
Funeral services for Ms. Colley will be held Friday afternoon, April 23, 2010, at 3:00 o'clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Ephesus Cemetery in Appling County.
