Mozell Carter Dixon, 92, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday evening, Feburary 12, 2009, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was a native of Bacon County and lived most of her life in Pierce County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Foster Dixon; her parents, Silas Aaron Carter and Emmie Jane Rowell Carter; a son, Donnie Dixon; two grandsons, Greg Pippins and Archie David Moseley, and two great-granddaughters, Lee Padgett and Cassie Perritt.
She was a homemaker and had worked many years for Waycross Sitter Services. She was a charter member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church. She was also an avid quilter.
Survivors include four daughters, Winifred King, Julean Tyre and Diane Moseley, all of Blackshear, and Connie Davis (Troy), Waycross; two sons Fred Dixon (Melba), Blackshear and Ronnie Dixon (Peggy), Blackshear; 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 38 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Hugh Carter (Jean), Jacksonville FL; a sister, Ruth Colley, Blackshear and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15 from the Hacklebarney Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the Enon Cemetery.
