OBITUARY: June 24, 1954 - Vermillion Plain Talk, Vermillion, SD

SERVICES HELD HERE ON WEDNESDAY FOR FORMER RESIDENT

Funeral services were held on Wednesday June 16, in the Elmore-Wagner Funeral home for Fredrick H. Maynard, 84, who passed away at Appleton, Minn., on June 12 due to a heart attack which followed pneumonia. The Rev. F. G. MacKenzie conducted the services.

Frederick Maynard, son of David and Caroline Maynard, was born Oct. 16, 1869 at Hanover, Ill. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Washburn on May 27 1888 in Vermillion, S.D.

His wife and one son preceded him in death. He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Nona Trudeau of Vermillion, Mrs. Frances Knoll of Correll, Minn., Mrs. Alma Arends of Ponca, Nebr., Mrs. Helen Clapp of Excelsior, Mrs. Vera Radtke of Appleton and Mrs. Gail Gutknecht of Norwood, Minn; four sons, Earl of Appleton, Ralph of Odessa, Max of Bellingham and Wayne of Ukiah, Calif; a brother, Charles of Sioux City; 43 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Interment was in the Bluff View cemetery with IOOF services being conducted at the graveside. Casketbearers were Knute Rhyg, Hans Christoperson, Alexis Anderson, Frank Powell, Jacob Dutcher and Julius Charrlin.
