Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Winnie Arceneaux Blanchard, 82, who died Saturday in Lafayette.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of Saint Michael's Catholic Church conducted the funeral service and the burial at the Woodlawn Mausoleum.
The Rosary was prayed at 6:30 Sunday.
Visitation took place from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. until service time Monday.
Mrs. Blanchard was born April 28, 1926 in Mermentau, to the late Whitney and Olita Blanchard Arceneaux. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Blanchard of Crowley, a daughter, Deanna Smith and her husband, Sherman, Sr. of Crowley; two stepdaughters, Donna Rochester and her husband, Louis of Sulphur and Connie Toth and her husband, Greg of New York; two stepsons, Gary Blanchard and wife, Susie of Sulphur and Greg Blanchard and his wife, Arlene of Sulphur; two sisters, Murlie Arceneaux of Crowley and Marie Cryer of Vidor, Texas, 16 grandchildren; Belinda Hebert and her husband, Fern and Sherman Smith, Jr. and wife, Sharon all of Crowley, and 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Claude Arceneaux, three sisters, Jean Romero, Eula Mae Hebert and Mary Lee Broussard.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
