Walter Murphey

REEDSPORT — A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Reedsport Presbyterian Church for Walter Vincent Murphey of Reedsport, who died April 16 of restrictive lung disease. He was 85.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Dunes Memorial Chapel.

He was born May 5, 1924, in Roseburg to Earl and Mildred Lembke Murphey. He married Jean Gronso on Dec. 5, 1950, in Portland. She died on Nov. 26, 2004.

He attended Gardiner High School and served in the Army. He worked in the appliance repair field and worked for Burnhart's Furniture and Thompson Interiors. He later operated his own repair business.

Survivors include three brothers, Fred of Joliet, Ill. and Gordon and Leo, both of Reedsport; and two sisters, Jean Harris and Helen Bartow both of Reedsport.

Arrangements by Dunes Memorial Chapel in Reedsport. Remembrances to Project Blessing at Reedsport Presbyterian Church.
