Services for John Robert Bennett, retired farmer and sawmill operator of Ripley, who died at a son's home in Memphis Friday, December 13, 1963, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McBride Funeral Home in Ripley. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery. Mr. Bennett, who was 81, was a member of the Methodist Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. J.R. Bennett of Ripley; his step-mother, Mrs. Effie Bennett of Memphis; five sons, L.Q. Bennett of California, Donald Wayne Bennett of Ripley, Lee Earl Bennett of Potts Camp, and Melborne Bennett and Gordon Bennett of Memphis; seven brothers, Claude Bennett and Frank Bennett, both of Potts Camp, Sidney Bennett of Ganesville, Texas, Tommy Lee Bennett, Russell Bennett, and Cline Bennett, all of Memphis, and Cox Bennett of Ashland; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Mahan and Mrs. George Turpin, both of Memphis. -- Southern Sentinel.
