"The Theater Man", Ted was born and raised in Drain, Oregon. He helped work the family ranch and graduated from Yoncall High School. To get to the theater he wouldclimb the log flume and ride a log down the trough to town and then walk back home afterwards. For years he traveled around to small towns in Oregon, often where there was no electricity, and showed movies. He moved to Newberg in 1925 and took over and old empty theater, remodeled it in the winter and opened it in the spring to become the Francis Theater. His wife to be, Grace Heater, became the musician-organist and piano player at the theater in 1926. On January 23, 1927 they were married. He owned and operated the Cameo, Francis, 99W drive-in, Mac theater,Mac drive-in and the latest Twin Cinamas. The Cameo was opened in 1937 and seated 325 people. In 1953 he opened the 99W Drive-In which is one of the last of it's breed. Most all the others have gone by the wayside. In 1983 he opened the Twin Cinama. He was also a decendent of Jessie Applegate, a pioneer who discovered the Oregon Trail.
