Married Mrs Nancy Thompson Galloway on 7/14/1822, Lawrence Co., TN. A blacksmith and farmer by trade. In 1824, Abraham and brother Jacob led a large group of relatives, neighbors and friends from the TN/AL border area to Morgan Co., IL, to join their brothers George W. Sr., Joseph Jr and Sampson. Relatives making the trek included their siblings, John (Sarah Frazier), Mary (David P.) Walker and Delilah (Robert) Houston, but did NOT include their father, Joseph Fanning Sr, as he had removed from Lauderdale Co., AL, to NW AR c1822, where he resided on Whartons Creek with Joshua Wharton. Joseph Sr. moved to IL c1826 and then back to NW AR in the mid 1830's. See 1850 Franklin Co., AR, census for birth years and birthplaces of his 6 younger children. The Fannings went to Morgan Co., IL, because of Solomon Keltner, George Wash. Fanning, Sr's brother-in-law, who had gone to IL in 1817/1818 and returned to TN in 1819 to encourage others to move to IL.
