Mrs.Carrie A. Sanner, wife of John W. Sanner, died Friday morning at 7:45 o'clock after a long illness. She was 44 years old and has lived with her husband and family in this city for the last fifteen years. She was well known and highly respected and her death comes as a great but not unexpected sorrow to her friends and relatives.
For the past two years Mrs. Sanner suffered with bowel trouble. For the last eleven weeks she has been confined to her bed with a complication of the disease and several times she has been very critical. All through her long suffering she was kind and patient.
John W. Sanner,the husband, Roy W. Sanner, a son and Miss Bessie Sanner, the daughter survive,Mrs. Sanner.
Mrs. John W. Sanner was born at Edwardsville, Ill on the 16th of August, 1859. She was one of the three daughters of Major Thomas J. Newsham who served in the civil war.Her maiden name was Carrie A. Newsham. On Nov 14, 1878, she was married to John Sanner and the two moved to Shelby county where they located on a farm. Two children were born to them there. Fifteen years ago the family moved to Decatur.
The children attended the high school and later entered the University of Michigan.they both live in this city and were present at the time of the death.
Mrs. Sanner was always a staunch member of the First M. E. church. She was a great church worker and did much in the congregation in this city. She never belonged to a society or club.
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence, 569 w. Macon street. Rev. W. J. Davidson, pastor of the First M. E. church will conduct the service and the interment will be at Greenwood.
