Leora J. Speakman, 82, of Manhattan died Sunday at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

She was born February 17, 1901, in Chariton, Iowa, to Staton Stumbough and Ida (Mudel) Stumbough. On November 24, 1920, she married William Chester Speakman. He preceded her in death in 1968.

She came to Montana in 1912 where she settled with her family in the Absarokee area. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Willow Creek where they lived for two years. They then moved to Manhattan where they were engaged in the grain elevator business. She lived in Manhattan until her death.

Survivors include a son, Gaylord Speakman of Manhattan; and three grandsons, Wayne, Willie and Wylie, all of Manhattan.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel in Bozeman. Interment was at the Sunset Hills Cemetery.
