Kirwin Kansan--January 31, 1907
After several years of patient suffering Charles J. Engstrom died at his home in Kensington January 24, 1907. He was born March 28, 1843, in Sweden and came to this country when a young man having lived in this community thirty years. Short funeral services were held Saturday morning at the residence after which the body was taken to Kirwin where the Modern Woodman, of which he was a charter member, took charge of the service and led the funeral procession to the cemetery where the Woodnman ritual service was given. Sixty Woodmen were in the march.
He was a pioneer Kansan and was one of the highly respected men of this community. He was deeply interested in local politics and the welfare of his community and a staunch Republican. He leaves a wife, three sons, and one daughter, Mrs. Joe Oliva of Kensington, to mourn the loss of a husband and father.

The funeral will be conducted at Kensington Saturday morning and interment of the body will be in the Kirwin cemetery. The Modern Woodmen will have charge of the services at the grave. Services will be at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. All Woodmen are requested to meet at the I.O.O.F. hall at one o'clock sharp.
