Jacob R. Hinkel succumbed to his infirmities on Tuesday afternoon, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Faust, 126 Plum, aged 77 years, 8 months and 11 days.
Mr. Hinkel was a native of Maidencreek, and formerly resided in Ontelaunee for over 30 years. He came to this city a few years ago in declining health. His wife, Sarah (nee Barlet) passed away 9 years ago.
Early on he was a carpenter, but eventually engaged in the lime-burning business for the better part of his life.
He was a longtime member of Gernant's Reformed Church.
He is survived by the following children: Anna, wife of Peter Faust; Susan, wife of Thomas Fidler; Rebecca, widow of William Weiser; Sarah, wife Manuel Ohlinger; and Jeremiah, all of Reading. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah, sons: John, Benjamin and William.
Services will be held today at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Faust. Burial at Gernant’s.
