Obituary of William Lacy who died on May 9, 1967

Horton - William W. (Bud) Lacy, 79, Everest, died here Tuesday in a hospital where he had been a patient about 10 days. He was born October 18, 1887 at Abilene and had lived in the Everest community in Brown County more than 70 years. He was a professional baseball player in the early 1900s.

He had served as a committeeman for the Democratic Party in Brown County and had served on the election board at Everest more than 30 years. He was a former mayor and city council member at Everest. He had served on the Everest rural high school and trade school board 26 years. Mr. Lacy was instrumental in organizing the Everest Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Christian Church. He had owned and operated a grocery store and restaurant at Everest.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine Lacy, at home; two sons, William Carroll Lacy, Walnut Creek, Calif., and Loren Wesley Lacy, Riverside, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. James Adair, Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Robert Campbell, Stuart, Fla., and Mrs. William O. Gechter, Muscotah; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Simpson Miller, Everest; and six grandchildren. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery near Everest.
