"Lydia Ann Arnold was born in Ohio on November 7, 1830 and passed away on May 24, 1895, at her home two miles south of Vermillion, Kansas. She was married to G.W. Duffy on March 7, 1874, in Illinois. They moved to Minnesota and resided there for 23 years. In 1874, they moved to Kansas and lived near Vermillion for the last 21 years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since 1864. She always had a pleasant smile and was ready to help anyone one in need. She leaves her aged husband and four sons and two daughters to mourn her passing. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church with Reverend Hibbard officiating."
