FRANK P. SMITH 74, of 1617 E. Locust Street, died at 8:00 a.m. Sunday November 8, 1959 at the St. Joseph Hospital.
He was the son of TAYLOR and JOANNE SELL SMITH, and was born April 30, 1985 in Jefferson County, Iowa. He had been a resident of Ottumwa, Iowar for 62 years.
MR. SMITH retired for the C.B. & Q. freight office after 44 years of service. He was cashier at the time of his retirement in 1950.
A member of the East End Presbyterian Church for 55 Years, he had served on the board of trustee for 33 consecutive years. He was a member of the board of elders and leader of the church school orchestra.
He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, of the Low Twelve Club, and Masonic Lodge No. 16.
MR. SMITH married former LILLIAN TIBBETTS were married April 28, 1906 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She survives.
He is also survived by a son, HUBERT L. SMITH of Ottumwa, Iowa, three brothers, WALTER SMITH and FRED SMITH, both of Ottumwa, Iowa and Roy Smith of Mishawake, Ind.
He is preceded in death by a son ROBERT SMITH August 1, 1959, and by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the East End Presbyterian Church in charge of the Rev. C. W. Gault. The casket will be taken from the Reece Funeral Home to the church at 12:00 noon Tuesday, and will be closed at begining of the service.
Pallbearers will be TOM CHESSER, WILLIAM STAEBLER, SAM JONES, DON JONES, ARTHUR PUMROY AND ART HOOGENWONING. Honorary pallbearers wll be DON CECCONI, EARL SCHAFFER, A.H. WOODS, DAVE WILLIAMS, C.D. WILSON, ELMER TEETER.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn with the Masonic Lodge in charge of grave side service.
A memorial fund for the Heart Association will be established in his memory.
