Obituary in THE STATE, Columbia, SC, 24 Apr 2006: West Columbia - A celebration of the life of Frances A. Dennis, 86, will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Jackson Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Walter Mack Burriss and Rev. Athan Arant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Charles Arant, Louis Arant, Martin Arant, Benard Arant, Charles Dennis, Kenneth Dennis, Gordon Ramsey, and Eddie Dennis, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home West Columbia Chapel, 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jackson Creek Baptist Church, 7778 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29223. Mrs. Dennis, widow of Raymond Earl Dennis, died Sunday, April 23, 2006. Born in Lexington County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Michael M. and Henrietta J. Arant. Mrs. Dennis was a member of Jackson Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 54 years. She was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Dennis had retired from Columbia Pacific Mills where she worked for 46 years. Survivors include sons, Michael J. (Margie) Dennis, of Lexington, and Eddie L. (Joyce) Dennis of Cayce; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dennis was predeceased by her sister, Leola A. Ramsey; brothers, Sampson M. Arant, Carlton Arant, Claude M. Arant and Ronald Arant. The family expresses special thanks to the nurses, staff, and aides of Spence's Place at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care.
