The children of Samuel and Gillie Farrow were Avarilla Bell (September 30, 1859-April 5, 1885), William Lucean “Billy” (November 10, 1860-July 21, 1940), Samuel Lafayette (January 1, 1862-February 12, 1942), Flora May (April 6, 1864-April 28, 1869), Robert Dewitt (December 25, 1865-April 21, 1953), John H. (b. 1867-past 1909), Edward “Eddy/Ed” Gatewood (June 8, 1869-October 9, 1952), Carrie (d. after 1909) and Wilkes (April 1873-bef. 1920). All children were born in Tennessee except for Carrie and Wilkes. Six boys and one girl, according to Gillie as she filled out her widow’s pension application, were still living in 1909.
