Last Rites For Dr. W. H. Banks

Dr. William Henderson Banks, 85, retired Dr. practiced medicine for over 50 years, died January 31, 1964 at the Neshoba County Hospital. Dr. Banks was ill for some time.

Dr. Banks, born in Neshoba County, Miss., had resided in Coldwater community most of his life. Church offiliation Methodist, Coldwater. He was one of the pioneers of this church, helping to build the church. Member of the Miss. State Board of Health for a number of years.

Dr. Banks is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Houston Banks, daughter, Mrs. Addi Lee Williamson, Philadelphia, Miss., daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Banks, Albuquerque, New Mexico, one son, Uriah Banks, Philadelphia, Miss., 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, George Banks, Newton, Miss., Gilbert Banks, Union, Miss., Edd Banks, Jackson, Miss., 4 sisters, Mrs. A. L. Pennington, Sr., Decatur, Miss., Mrs. Lonnie Milling, Jackson, Miss., Mrs. R. B. Vance and Mrs. T. O. Gully, both of Neshoba, Miss.

Funeral services were held Feb. 1, 1964 at Philadelphia, First Methodist Church, 2:30 p. m. with the Rev.'s John H. Cook, Jerry Williamson and Laval Woodrick officiating.

Pallbearers were U. E. Cannon, James H. Vance, Sharp, Jr, Oren and Jack Banks, A. L. Pennington, Jr. Honorary pallbearers: Doctor of Medicine Ass'n. Interment was in Linwood cemetery.

McClain-Hays Funeral Home, Philadelphia, Miss., in charge of services.
