Nathaniel married Mary Culberson.
Nathaniel York, Sr. is the second child of six children born to John York and his wife Nancy Dorcas York.

Nathaniel, age 22, married Mary Anne Culberson, age 18, on 1796 in the Rocky River Baptist Church, Chatham County, North Carolina. They are the parents of eleven children per the personal Bible of Nathaniel York:

The Last Will and Testament of Nathaniel York; Randolph County, North Carolina - August Term 1837

"In the name of God amen I Nathaniel York of the County of Randolph & State of North Carolina being somewhat in years and knowing that it is Ordained For all Men Once to die and Being now of sound mind & disposing memory Thanks be to God for the same do this Day make & ordain this to be My Last Will and Testament in manner as follows viz: it is my will and desire When I may die to be buried in a Christian like manner and after paying all my Just debtes & funeral Charges out of my Estate all the ballance I lend and give away in Manner as follows first I lend unto my beloved Wife Mary York During her natural life or Widdowhood the use &_____ of my _____ Mantion House orchard and farm whereon I now Live with all the Propperty & advantages ____ belong also the use of my black boy Wilson & my black girl affey my Waggon and geers(?) one still &bobs(?) my Fan & til of black smith Tools one Horse beast hur choice two Cows & Calves hur Choice two fether Beds & furniture hur Choice together with all nessary farming Tools Plantation utensils & nessary House Hold and kitching furnature also my Stock of hogs & sheep for the Support of her self and her self & her four youngest Childern if they Remain With her & Schooling them also My Cupboard & furnature My Clock and two tables all of Which she is to have the use of and give it off to her four youngest Children When they leave her as she may Think Proper or as I May hereafter direct

2nd I give & bequeath to My Son Larkin C. York all the payment I made towards his land & the Negro Woman Rose & all the other things I have here tofore Given him & Ten Dollars In money To him & his house forever

3rd I give & bequeath to my Son Andrew Yorks children or lawful heirs all that Tract of land Calld the William Cox Place Joining Wm. Rice(Reese) & others Containing two hundred acres more or less also I give to my Andrew all the Payment I made towards his negro and all the things I have here to fore give him & thirty dollars in money to him & his heirs for Ever

4th I give & bequeath to my Son William York the Tract of Land Wher on he now Lives lying south of the Middle fork of Reed Creek Containing one hundred & Twenty five acres more or less to him & his heirs Lawfully begotten if he should Here after have any such & if not only to him During his natural life and after His Death To return back in to Estate only Reserving to his widow should he Leave one a Write of Dower during her widdowhood for her support and then To be Equally divided between all his brothers & sisters or their lawful heirs as case may be I allso give to my son William all that I have here tofore given him and one hundred & fifty Dollars out of my Estate to him & heirs & assigns for Ever

5th I give & bequeath to my Son Semore York the pay ment I made towards his land and all that I have here tofore given him and one hundred & fifty Dollars in money out of my Estate to him & his Heirs for Ever

6th I give & bequeath to my Daughter Polly Marley My black girl named Fanny and all the things I have hereto fore given her to her & here heirs for Ever

7th I give & bequeth to My Son Joab York all that Tract of land I bought of Balon(?) Alldridge Joining Wm. Rice and others Containing one hundred & Forty acres & one nigro Boy named William Manley together with all the things I have heretofore given him in the same Manner as the Others Boy To him & his heirs for Ever.

th I give & bequeath to my Son Hiram York My negro boy named Isaac one bed & furnature one Cow & Calf & other things such as sheep & hogs Equeal to what I have given to the others boys & all that I have Paid towards his Land To him & his heirs for Ever

9th I give & bequeath to my Son Nathaniel York my old Tract of Land Where on I first settled & all The land I own up there Say five hundred & Sixty two acres & negro Boy named Ben__ I___ My Smith Tools & waggon Lent to My Wife after she is done with them One Horse bridle & saddle one bed & furnature a Cow & Calf my Book Case & sheep & hogs & other things Equal to the other boys to him & his heirs for Ever.

10th I give & bequeath to my Son Culberson York all my Land Whereon I now Live including the Davanport tract and all after the Death or Widdowhood of my Wife also one Negro Boy named Wilson Lent to my Wife one Big Waggon one still after my Wife is done with them one Horse bridle & saddle One Cow & Calf one bed & furnature my Clock & Cupboard & sheep 7 hogs Equal to the other boy to him & his heirs for Ever

11th i give & bequeath to my Daughter Nancy Malinda York one horse bridle & saddle one Bed & furnature two Cows and Calves one Case of Drawers one Table one Negro boy named Henry and fifty Dollars in money out of my Estate To her & her heirs for Ever

12th It is my Will & desire that my Wife Mary York Should keep all the property & things Lent to her together & give it off to her four young children as the may Marry or leave her at her own discretion so as make as near Equal as She can and all the residue of my Estate that I may leave not given away or lent to my Wife to be sold by my Executors hereafter To be appointed to the best advantage and Equally Divided Among all my Children Share & Share alike --

Lastly i also nominate & appoint my son Larkin C. York & My Son in Law John Marley to do Execution of this my Last Will & Testament a greeable to law in testimony here of & Every Part here of I hereunto Set my hand and Seal this 14th day of November in the year of our Lord 1835"
