Isaac Best fought in the civil war he was taken prisoner and was sent to the Andersonville prison in Andersonville, Sumter co., Georgia. There on August 14, 1864 he died and is buried there.
His death is recorded in a Journal written by Corp. Patrick J. Kelly who called him Uncle Isaac. It was published in the Dec. 28 & 29 1864 issue of The Daily Journal, Ogdensburg ,St. Lawrence Co., New York under a story called "A Record of Misery" which tells of the condition of the prison.
