Hartley T. Richardson, owner of Richardson Electric and an independent electrical contractor for more than 30 years, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1989, at Boone Retirement Center. He was 91. Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Parker Funeral Chapel, Tenth and Walnut streets, with the Rev. Stanley Owen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Richardson was born April 5, 1898, in Boone County to John Richardson and Martha Matilda Craig Richardson. On April 10, 1955, he married Gladys Douglass in Arlington, Va. and she survives.Mr.
Richardson was a Boone County deputy sheriff under sheriffs Glenn Powell and Frank Elkin. He had served on the boards of directors of the Salvation Army and Boone County Chapter American Red Cross, and he was an active volunteer with meals on wheels.
Mr. Richardson was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of York Rite and the Shrine, and was past president of Tiger Shrine Club.Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mabel Laverne George of Arlington, Va.; a stepson, Don Douglass of Columbia; a brother, J. Aubrey Richardson of Ada, Okla.; a brother-in-law, Marvin Burks of Columbia; a grandchild; and two step-grandsons. Five sisters, three brothers and several nieces and nephews preceded him in death.Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in St. Louis.
