OBIT
The many friends of George W. Palmer regret to hear of his sudden death which occured on Feb. 25, 1909, aged 78 years. Mr. Palmer was married to Mrs. Fanny Gifford Dec. 80, 1908. Mr Palmer arose in the morning, attended
to his fire in the kitchen and complained of not feeling well, he called his wife to assist him in which she did, and then he went to the front room to attend the stove in that room. His wife heard something fall but paid no attention,
thinking the noise was in connection with the stove fixings. A few minutes later she went to the front room and
found her Husband dead on the floor. Coronor yowinkle, from Oswego was summoned and pronounced death due
to heart failure. He leaves beside his widow, two sons, Noyes, of Martville, and George J. Jr., of Hannibal, also
three daughters, Mrs. Emma Kelley of this place, Mrs. Alice Clark of Hannibal, and; Mrs. Rophesia Petit of Fair Haven. The funeral was held Sunday at the M. 12. church of this place, Rev. Hughes officiating. Interment at Hannibal.

Civil War Muster Record shows George W. Palmer enlisted 27 Aug 1864, and was mustered out 18 Jun 1865 "Remarks: MR Oct 31/64 Present Borne as Farmer do Dec same, do Febu 28/65 same, do April same. MOR Absent sick since June 2/64 and at muster out of company." MO at Petersburg, VA. Described as 5'8, with dark hair, grey eyes and a light complexion.
