John Montgomery Perry was born 26 December 1836 in Montgomery, AL to Benjamin & Elizabeth (Kimbro) Perry. He married Lurinda "Lou" Sowell on 7 January 1865 in Bastrop County, Texas. Lou was born 28 January 1842 Williams Port (or Columbia), TN to Ryon W. & Ann G. (Letsinger) Sowell. John served as a Private (Pvt) in the Company D (Parson's Mounted Volunteers), 12th Texas Cavalry Regiment, Confederate States Army (C.S.A.) along with his brother, James Wesley Perry. This unit was attached to Walker's Texas Division and saw service west of the Mississippi River.
John died 8 June 1920 in Smithville, Bastrop Co., TX. Lou died 11 July 1939 in Smithville, Bastrop County, Texas
