Charles Taylor Sewell, 85, father of "Rip" Sewell, New Orleans baseball manager, died today about 8:45 a.m. at his home at 411 West Moulton Street.
Funeral services will be announced later by Brown Funeral Home pending arrival of relatives.
The deceased is survived by three sons, Truett B. "Rip" Sewell, Plant City, Fla; Roy I. Sewell, New Orleans; Lowery F. Sewell, Athens, Ala; and three daughters, Mrs. Carl Gibson and Mrs. J.G. Hamilton of Decatur and Mrs. G.W. Webb, Birmingham. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.

Sewell Service To Be Held Wednesday
Funeral services for Charles Taylor Sewell, 85, will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Methodist Church. Rev. T.J. Chitwood, Rev. R.L. Nabors and Rev. O.E. Burton will officiate. Burial will be in city cemetery, directed by Brown.
Mr. Sewell died Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Gibson, 411 West Moulton Street, after an illness. He leaves three sons; three daughters, and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roy Odom, Dock Hurst, H.L. Douthit, Z.K. Goode, Sam Evans, Raymond Pepper, Elmer Bradley and Roy Fite Sr.
