Born April 10, 1934 in Cudahy, Wisconsin.
He moved to North Chicago at four years old. He attended Holy Rosary School and continued on to Waukegan High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953. Stationed at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas. He married Idalen Bading on February 4, 1956 in New Braunfels, TX. Bob returned to Illinois in 1957 with his wife and oldest daughter. He retired after 26 years as a Lieutenant from the North Chicago Fire Department in 1984. After his retirement, he was a service representative for James Enterprise Lockers for 10 years and was a trustee of the North Chicago Fire Department Pension Fund.
Survivors include his wife, Ida; 5 daughters, Diane (Bill) Hilty of Beach Park, Debbie (John) Lewis of Antioch, Donna (John) Chrapkowski of Gurnee, Denise (Ron) Petoskey of Gurnee, Dawn (Doug) Batteau of Grayslake. Proud grandfather of 13; sisters, Dolores Bill Voinovich, Dorothy (Cliff) Pearson; brothers, Jack (Charlene) Mruk, Jim (Mary Lou) Mruk and many dear nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Laura Mruk.
Visitation will be Monday, November 27, from 5PM to 8PM at GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL. Private services will be held on Tuesday, November 28 at 11AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Therese Star Hospice and the Village Church of Gurnee.
