Born June 23, 1897 to Charles E. and Minnie (Florence M.) Jones in Berkely, California. His parents were born in the US to parents who had immigrated from Sweden. His family had moved to California from Utah where his father was a gold miner in Nevada County.
Olof married Hazel Nutting in Crescent City on February 14, 1918 and relocated to Oregon by 1920 where he worked in the lumber business with Hazel's father.
Olof died in Jackson, Oregon on March 4, 1942. His was survived by his wife, who died two years later. They are buried In Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford, Oregon. They had no known children.

"Olaf E. Jones aged 45 years, died Wednesday morning in Medford after a prolonged illness. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Conger Funeral parlors in Medford with burial in Siskiyou memorial cemetery.
"Ole" as he was known to many friends in the valley, was the former owner of the Cave City Theater, and helped to build our present fire truck. After leaving Cave Junction, he moved to Grants Pass where he and Mrs. Jones made their home until his recent illness which took him to the Mayo clinic and then back to the hospital in Medford where he passed away.
