Frances "Fran" Helfers, 82, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at a local care center. Funeral will be at 10a.m. Monday, December 5,at Arlington Funeral Home Chapel,with Rev Bill Dasch of St. John Lutheran Church officiating and members of the Arlington Eastern Star participating with the Eastern Star Funeral Service. Burial in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, with visitation from 3 to 6p.m. Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Alley residence following the service. Memiorials may be made to Mansfield Nursing Center, Activities Fund, 1402 East Broad St., Mansfield, 76063.
Fran was born March 3, 1923, in Pearl to Mary Frances and George Hodges. She was a faithful and devoted member for 37 years of Arlington Eastern Star No. 249, Worthy Matron in 1975-1976; Mansfield Eastern Star No. 876 and held many offices there; Daughters of the Nile, Rithmah Temple; Order of the Amaranth; Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; Texas Red Bonnets 2 of the Red Hat Society. Fran was loved by all who met her and will be missed. She was preceded in death by both parents, a brother and three grandchildren. Survivors: Husband, Fred Helfers; children, Ann Ellison of Chandler, Ben Blankenship of Waco, Mary Bunce and husband, Gordon of Venus, the Rev. Marti Quade-Alley and husband, Joe of Arlington, Rick Quade of Arlington, Ron Quade of Chicago, Ill.; step-son, Mike Pahlen and wife, Bonnie of Superior, Wisconsin; brother, Jim Hodges and wife, Sue of Lillian; brother-in-law, Eldred Quade of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews of blood and of the heart; extended family at Mansfield Nursing Center.
