Cadwallader, who died of pneumonia at her residence, 430 S. 45th Street, Philadelphia, on December 16, 1916, as briefly announced in January Journal, was born in Hollidaysburg in 1846. Her parents were Robert Wallace and Jane Hemphill Wallace. Her father was the first lawyer to practice in that county and spent the 83 years of his life nearly all there. Mrs. Cadwallader had 8 brothers and sister; the only ones now living are Samuel H. Wallace, Philadelphia, former ticket agent at Broad Street Station; Thomas L. Wallace and Mrs. S.J.M. McCarrell of Harrisburg,
..Mrs. Cadwallader spent the early years of her life in Clearfield, going from there to Philaelphia to school, where the balance of her life was spent.
..She was married to Charles G. Cadwallader in Philadelphia, November, 1870. Their married life was an ideal one for happiness. She and her husband were noted among all who knew them for their lovely characters.
..Mrs. Cadwallader had 7 children: Susan Hemphill, now Mrs. J. Morton Dickinson; Rebecca McCarrell, now Mrs. John W. She left 5 grandchildren: Cadwallader Dickinson, Rebecc Wallace Dickinson, Janie Gray, Charles Cadwallader Gray and Wallace L. Cadwallader, Jr. Her decease is a grievous loss to her home, and friends and church.
..When the International Association of Ticket Agents met in Philadelphia in 1893, the ladies connected with Quaker City Association formed an association to take charge and conduct the entertainment during their stay in the Quaker City. Mrs. Cadwallader was very active in that association. As her husband, Capt. c. G. Cadwallader, was secretary of the I. A. T. A., she always accompanied him on most of the trips held by the association during the years of his secretaryship, which he held until his death in 1910, and in this manner she became well acquainted and beloved by all who knew her.
