Jim was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Corsicana to James Roy and Lillian (Bass) Hitchcock. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1956. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served until 1962, and was released with an honorable discharge. He went to work as an oilfield production manager for Drillco Oil Tools, where he worked for 18 years. He was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors, especially playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Robert Friesenhahn of LaVernia; sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Debra Hitchcock of Casper, Wyo., and Mark and Gloria Hitchcock of Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Eugene Harris of Covington, Ga.; brother, Bob Hoover of Corsicana; and five grandchildren.
