Margaret Alice Byrd Marsh
Death of Mrs. Marcus L. Marsh
At her home in Gray’s Creek, Cumberland County Mrs. Marcus L. Marsh peacefully passed away, on August 31, 1904.

Her maiden name was Alice Byrd, and she was born near Greenwood, Florida, in 1861. For several years after her marriage, her home was in Texas. Then she came with her husband and family to his native home on the Cape Fear, in the old North State. Besides her relatives in Florida, she leaves her husband, three sons and three daughters to mourn their loss. She bore her suffering through many month with cheerful, patient fortitude.

Through the sixteen years of her married life, she was a true and devoted friend. She live forty three years on earth, and though she has passed away, her memory will live on with the influence of her life.

We count not life as we measure time. A few years soon are past, But faithful service –loving words Within our hearts shall last. Sept. 22, 1904 L. E. M.[Leonnas Emeline Marsh], first cousin to Marcus.
