Laurel Woodbury Mickelson, age 84, passed away on May, 23, 2016 in St. George, Utah. She was born February 12, 1932 at 12:45 p.m. She was the 13th child and the 11th girl of John Taylor and Nimzar Gagosian Woodbury. She also had 4 half siblings. Laurel married Peter LaMar Mickelson.

Laurel lived in Las Vegas for many years and was quite accomplished in music, singing and piano. She loved to dance Laurel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her children, Kerry (Yvonne) Mickelson, Donna (Louie) Servin, Julie (McKay) Hafen, Jana Peterson, Peter Aaron, and Jody; 28 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter LaMar, a daughter, Ruth McHugh and daughter-in-law, Lori Mickelson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, 110 S. Bluff, St. George, UT. There will be a viewing prior to services Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will take place in the Washington City Cemetery.

Laurel Woodbury Mickelson, age 84, passed away on May, 23, 2016 in St. George, Utah. She was born February 12, 1932 at 12:45 p.m. She was the 13th child and the 11th girl of John Taylor and Nimzar Gagosian Woodbury. She also had 4 half siblings.

Her family was very close and always gave Laurel support and advice throughout her life. She insisted on family get togethers. Laurel was a very determined person and she always studied each decision she made carefully.

Laurel married Peter LaMar Mickelson 9 months after he went home and told his mother he had seen the girl he was going to marry.

Laurel lived in Las Vegas for many years and was quite accomplished in music, singing and piano. She had lessons in all of them and also taught them. She loved to dance and dragged Pete along to go Square Dancing, Ballroom Dancing, and lessons in Modern Dance. Laurel enjoyed writing. She kept a diary from the age of 8 and especially enjoyed writing poems and songs. She wrote a lullaby and a Baptism Song she sang at her grandchildren’s baptisms. She even sang for the Mayor of an English town.

Laurel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the gospel and contributed to the church in all ways.

She was active in always searching for a way to serve others. Laurel lived a life of charity, compassion, unselfishness and love for everyone. She always looked for the good in people and refused to see the negative.
