Thomas H. Ryan, 83, formerly of Canton, died at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday (July 26, 1988) in the home of his daughter in Springfield, Ill. Mr. Ryan was born Sept. 12, 1904, in Lewis County, a son of William T. and Anna Ahern Ryan. He married Frances Estelle Long May 17, 1927, in St. Patrick. She died April 6, 1974. Mr. Ryan was a ticket agent for the Chicago, Aurora and Elgin Railroad during the 1920s and was a farmer until his retirement. He was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick. After his retirement, he traveled extensively and spent several winters in Texas. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Anna Louise) Sitki of Springfield, Ill.; a son, James of Canton; a brother, Bill of Canton; a sister, Mrs. Sam (Leota) Fellers of Clarendon Hills, Ill.; a great aunt, Loretta Johnson of Tyler, Texas; six grandsons; five granddaughters; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Bob Duesdieker. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Davis Funeral Chapel in Canton. A wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral chapel.
