George E. Gibson, 77, of O'Fallon, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1993, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis. Born December 17, 1915, in Clark County, he is survived by his wife Twila Lay Gibson. Gibson and his wife farmed many years in Lewis County, and he was employed at Moormans and artifical breeding before leaving Lewis County in 1954. Gibson was a rental property supervisor in St. Louis, and for many years was in charge of maintenance, buses and purchasing for the public schools at O'Fallon. He was a member of the St. Barnabus Catholic Church and was a Khoury League and girls softball coach for 20 years. Survivors also include two daughters, Betty Gibson of Chesterfield, and Sally Zerr of St. Charles Co.; two sons, Ray, of Edison, Ga., and Roger of Lake of the Ozarks; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brother, Hilbert, and Raymond and three sisters, Kate Raleigh, Isabelle Danker, and Nell Wiegand. A funeral Mass officiated by Father Daniel Hogan was held at 10 a.m., September 28, at St. Barnabus Catholic Church in O'Fallon with arrangements handled by Baue Funeral Home in O'Fallon. Music was provided by Wanda Walker and Lynn Orf. Pallbearers were Scott Zerr, Ron Wiegand, Gary Denton, William Lavetto and Frank Howell. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Gibson and Ernie Rateliff. Memorials may be made to the St. Charles County unit of the American Heart Association, % Baue Funeral Home, 311 Wood Street, O'Fallon, Mo. 63366.
