Mary Rowena "Rena" Maverick Green was the eldest of six children born to Mary Elizabeth Vance and George Madison Maverick. She married District Judge Robert B. Green in San Antonio, Texas in 1897. The couple were parents to four children. In 1907, at the age of thirty-three, she was widowed.
Rena Maverick Green was active in many areas and some of her titles were: historian, artist, suffragette, conservationist, and civic leader. She was educated at Mary Institute, St. Louis, Missouri, and Stuart Hall, Staunton, Virginia.
