Martin A. Kubitz, 72, Athens, died Monday at 9:15 a.m. at a Marshfield hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. The Rev. David Siep will officiate, and burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Hamburg. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday at Gilles and Son Funeral Home in Athens, and at the church Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until time of services. Mr. Kubitz was born Aug 6, 1898, in Waupaca County, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kubitz. On Oct. 26, 1922, in Stratford, he was married to Marie Kroening, who survives. Mr. Kubitz lived in Athens for the past 20 years. He was a cheese maker until 1951. He then was employed as a milk inspector until 1969. He was a member of the Athens Senior Citizens. Survivors, besides his wife, include two sons, Glen, 4209 Hilltop Ave., Wausau, and Roger, Town of Halsey; daughter, Mrs. Arlon Hopperdietzel, Wausau, Route 1; two brothers, Otto, Clintonville, and Frederick, Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Lemke, West Bend, and Mrs. Rickie Schoenek, Milwaukee; and six grandchildren.
