Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Gruber, daughter of John and Margaret Schaefer Reither, was born October 28, 1862, near Canton and died at the home of her son, George Gruber, in Canton, August 22, 1940. On December 20, 1887, she was united in marriage to Peter F. Gruber. To this union six children were born. Two of the children died in infancy. Margaret died January 18, 1923. Mr. Gruber preceded his conpanion in death May 9, 1938. Mrs Gruber was a faithful member of the Methodist church and was loved by all who knew her. She leaves three sons, Tom of the home place; Walter, near Canton; and George, who lives in Canton. There are three great grandchildren. One brother lives in Winchester. These and other relatives and a host of friends cherish her sacred memory and share their love and sympathy with the family. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Sunday, August 25, at 3:00 p. m. conducted by Rev. W. K. Moore of LaGrange and her minister, Rev. E. H. Farmer, assisted by splendid music with Mrs. E. P. Dondit at the organ and a male quartet composed of Lee Schlager, Orange Gruber, A. F. Goetz and Dave Alderton. The pall bearers were: Orange Gruber, Fred Reiter, Ebert Reiter, Henry Reiter, Oscar Reiter and Noel Reiter. Interment was in the Forest Grove cemetery.
