MOUNT VERNON -- Ruth Semler Wonner, 88, a former Findlay and area teacher, died Friday at Whispering Hills Care Center, Mount Vernon.
She was born Oct. 4, 1906 near Memphis, Neb., to the Rev. Lewis T. and Minnie (Mayfield) Frederick. She married Ralph W. Semler on June 2, 1927 in Findlay and he died Dec. 11, 1953. She then married Willard Wonner in August 1960 and he died in October 1989.
Surviving are a son, Jerry L. Semler, Tulsa, Okla., two daughters, Mrs Glenn (Doris Jean) Dilts, Fredericktown, Mrs. Edward (Thelma) Barberree, Fremont, 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and four sisters, Lola Kantlehner, Helen Keller and Pearl Frederick, all of Mount Carroll, Ill., and Charmion Bauders of Washington Court House; three brothers, Wilmer of Syracuse, Ind., Lee of Mayo, Fla; and Paul of Chatham, N.J.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Hutson, Vera Beightol, a brother, Orie, and an infant daughter, Dorothy Eileen.
Mrs. Wonner graduated from Lanark, (Ill.) High School and the University of Findlay. She was a retired teacher, having taught many years in Findlay and area schools. She was a charter member of Blanchard Avenue Pentecostal Church of God and taught adult Bible school for several years.
Funeral services wee held at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, the Rev. Wayne Baldright officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
