Mary was the daughter of:
Father: Benjamin Haile Stribling. Born 19 July 1794 in SC, died 24 June 1852 in Lavaca Co, TX. Buried in Hallettsville Memorial Cemetery. Son of Thomas STRIBLING (b 1763) and Elizabeth 'Betsy' HAILE.

Mother: Ruth Bradley GREENWOOD (b 1798 Pickens SC d July 29 1861 Goliad TX). Died in bed of sickness.

Her parents married on 21 Nov 1820 in Tuscaloosa Co AL. Children present: Mariah, Mollie, Ben, CK, & TCG.
Benjamin was a Latin scholar, a very religious man, and one of the first judges of Lavaca Co TX.

Mollie married Frank on Jan 1859 in Goliad Co TX.
They had 3 children

Younger Rob died tragically when he was killed while attending a dance by W. A. Stubbs. Byrd Kelly and Johnny Smothers avenged his death by killing Stubbs and Stubbs' brother-in-law James A Tucker. The shoot-out took place on the square at Hallettsville. Byrd later spent five years in Huntsville.

Although the year of her birth on her stone is 1838, she was 15 in the 1850 census. Also, the book Stribling and Related Families by Mary Francis Stribling Moursund documents her birth as Dec 20, 1835.
