Frances B. Montgomery was born on December 29, 1823, the daughter of James A. Montgomery Jr. and Martha Kirk Montgomery. She grew up in Madison Co. TN.
She married Samuel Green Bell (III) on February 16, 1849. Children born to this marriage: John W., Thomas L., Robert J., Mary A., Eleanor J. and Margaret V. Bell.
The family were prominent farmers in the Luray area of Henderson County, TN. After Samuel died in 1866, Frances continued to live on the farm with the help of her sons. Her son, Thomas, eventually took over the farm operation.
Frances died September 21, 1896 at the age of 72. She is buried in Nebo Cemetery, Henderson Co., TN.
