SOMERSET, Ky. - Herbert Sadler Covey, age 85, of Somerset, Ky., and formerly of Pulaski, died Friday Nov. 23, 2007 at his Kentucky residence. He was born Nov. 15, 1922 in Pulaski County, and was the son of the late Elizabeth Sadler Covey and Jesse R. Covey. He was a retired area supervisor for Western Electric, was a member of the Cave Spring United Methodist Church in Roanoke, and a former member of the Mt. View United Methodist Church in Pulaski County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Surber Covey, his second wife, Lucille Turner Covey, and a brother, Jesse R. Covey, Jr. He is survived by two sons, Stephen S. Covey and his wife Judy of Somerset, Ky., and Robert "Drake" Covey and his wife Karen of Lynchburg; three brothers, Raymond E. Covey of Dublin, Earl S. Covey and his wife Doris Ann of Dublin, and Jerry J. Covey of Dublin; two sisters, Elisabeth Collins of Scottsboro, Ala., and Margaret Brewer of Roanoke; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday Nov. 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Schoeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106-A, Roanoke, VA 24018.
