Earl Stuart Covey, Sr., 88, of Dublin, VA died Friday morning, October 13, 2017, at Lewis Gale Hospital – Salem, with his wife and son at his bedside. He was born in the Mt. View community of Pulaski County on May 10, 1929, and was the son of the late Jesse R. and Elizabeth Sadler Covey. He was an insurance advisor with Farm Bureau for many years, but he was most happy working on the family farm where he lived his entire life. He started Covey's Family Campground on a portion of the farm in 1972 where he made numerous friends and memories over the years. He was a lifetime member of Mt. View United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Halsey Covey; son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Lora Covey of Dublin; daughter and son-in-law, Vann and Charlie Byrd Duncan of Dublin; grandchildren Sydney Covey, Parker Covey, Mason Covey and Elizabeth Duncan; sisters, Elisabeth Collins of Scottsboro, AL and Margaret Brewer of Roanoke, VA; brother, Jerry Covey of Dublin; sister-in-law, Peggy Hemmings of Dublin; sister-in-law and husband, Patsy and Don Otey of Grand Prairie, TX; special nephew Leeman Covey and wife, Pat of Flat Rock, NC; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Raymond E. Covey, Jesse R. Covey, Jr., and Herbert S. Covey. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Terry Goodman and the Rev. Paige Wimberly officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Mt.
