Garten, Harrison R. an old soldier; died at home of son Hardy West of Abilene, age 78 years; survived by 2 sons, Clarence E. of Talmage and Hardy L. of Abilene. Bio in DCHS born Gibson Co., Ind; went to Texas at an early age to teach school; served in Confederate Army with 10th Texas Infantry; captured 1863, returned to Indiana after Civil War; he married 15 August 1866 Malinda J. Williams; she died 10 February 1881 and is buried in Gibson Co., Ind; he moved to Dickinson County soon after her death; they had three children, Laura Garten born 1867, died at the age of seven and buried in Gibson Co., Ind. of whom Hardy L and Clarence E. are living in Dickinson County.
