William Fleming dropped dead at his plow. He farmed near Lenoir, North Carolina. He was a son of Thomas Z. Fleming and Margaret Amanda Setzer Fleming.

William Fleming was married first to Minnie Conley, and 2nd to Purvey Mull. He and Minnie had 4 children: Junious Jerome and Newburn Fleming, and daughters Mrs. Fred Sherrill and Mrs. Fred Lane.

He was survived by his second wife Purvey and one small daughter, Evelyn(?) (Pansy Kathleen?) Fleming. According to Caldwell County death records, a second daughter, Charlene, died 28 September 1934. A third daughter, Geneva Irene, was born a month after Will's death. Also surviving were his sisters Bertha Houck, Lillie Lowdermilk, and Annabell Whisenant; and brothers Elijah, Sam, and Charles Fleming. In addition he was survived by 5 half-sisters and 2 half brothers.
