Mayor of Merkel in the 1890s. Owned the Dry Goods store, which burned to the ground in 1902. He then founded the Merkel bank, where he was president until his death.

Came to Abilene in 1892 from White County, AR with his wife and parents, Caleb Parker and Mary Ann Harkrider Warren. Caleb Parker Warren set up a dry goods store and bank there. Shortly thereafter, J T Warren moved to Merkel to open a similar enterprise.

Married Mary Lee Booth of White Co, AR and raised two daughters and a son in Merkel.
