~~EDITH PEARL PRIDGEN was born in Grapeland on 14 February 1879 and died in Grapeland on July 17, 1947.
She was the youngest child of Benjamin Franklin Pridgen and Lucy Alice Wright Pridgen.
Edith Pearl Pridgen's maternal great-grandmother was Hannah Dudley Taylor and she was a descendant of Edward Dudley.
He, Edward Dudley, was descended from several English barons who prevailed upon King John of England to ratify the MAGNA CARTA in 1215.
Edith Pearl and Algie Lee Brown were married in Grapeland, Texas July 29, 1900, and they had a beautiful wedding in the
parlor at the Totty Hotel.
Algie Lee and Edith had the following children;
1. Alice Lileene Brown Murray 1902-1996
2. Edith Florence Brown Smith b. Sept 19, 1903. Married Wilbur A. Smith. 1930 Census puts them in Texarkana, Bowie, Texas. I believe she died there July 19, 1997 and is buried there.
